Methodology
How the numbers on Streamable Charts are produced. No estimates are shown without collected samples.
- Sampling
- Every 5 minutes the collector reads the public live-stream lists of Twitch (Helix API) and Kick, ordered by viewers, down to 3 concurrent viewers. Each channel seen gets one viewer sample per cycle.
- Hours watched
- Sum over samples of viewers × minutes since the previous sample. This is the same estimator TwitchTracker and StreamsCharts use; short streams between two samples are missed.
- Average viewers
- Mean of all viewer samples during the period (or stream). Peak viewers is the highest single sample.
- Airtime
- Minutes between the first and last sample of each stream, capped at 15 minutes per gap.
- Streams
- A stream ends when the channel is absent from the live list for 20 minutes. Short disconnects are merged into one stream.
- Rankings
- Rolling periods (7/30/90/365 days) and calendar months are recomputed every 6 hours from daily rollups. Live rankings update on every sample.
- Followers
- Kick follower counts come from the channel endpoint refreshed every ~2 days. Twitch follower totals arrive through the historical import.
- Historical import
- Months before collection started are imported from publicly visible aggregate statistics and marked as imported; they are replaced by our own samples once a full month has been collected.
- Languages
- Taken from the stream metadata reported by each platform.
